Contouring your nails is the coolest way to fake having long claws

Just when we thought there wasn’t a single spot on our bodies left to contour, manicurist Jin Soon Choi decided to upend everything we thought we knew about nail art by introducing us to nail contouring!

She put this trend to use at the Vera Wang show at NYFW, and the results were pretty stunning.

It makes sense if you think about it. By only painting a stripe of polish down the center of the nail and keeping the outer edges nude, it gives the appearance of elongating the nail bed without having to add fake nails that could potentially harm  your natural nail.

Total genius!

The trend has been popping up all over Instagram these past few weeks, with everyone jumping on the nail contouring bandwagon.

You can go as subtle or as bold as you want!

It opens up a whole new world of nail art exploration!

We love how easy and attainable this particular trend is, as opposed to the more intricate ones that require professional help, especially if you’re a bit of a nail oaf like, ahem, some of us. Truth be told, sometimes our nails look like that simply because we’ve been chipping away at the edges, so that’s a happy coincidence, don’t you think?

This style is particularly edgy and cool, no?

Sure, it’s slightly more minimalist than the original trend, but you gotta admit it’s pretty badass!

This is such a cool solution for when you need to bring some nail drama realness to your life but you couldn’t get it together to actually grow some good old-fashioned claws. And it’s a great way for people to dabble in nail art without feeling overwhelmed!

Would you ever give it a shot?
