Mystic Mondays is the vibrant new tarot deck you need to liven up your life

We’re just going to go ahead and say it: There’s a tarot deck for everyone. Whether you’re looking for something elaborate and gothic, or bright and playful, there’s a deck out there with your name on it. And guess what? You don’t even have to wait for someone else to buy it for you!
If you’re on the hunt for a vibrant and lighthearted rendition of the classic tarot deck, then may we introduce you to Mystic Mondays? This is the tarot deck for the person who likes to dazzle, for the one who wants to let their intuition fly free alongside their freak flag. This is a theme that Grace Duong, the creator of the deck, focused on. She explains,
"I’m a believer in creating with purpose. My intention with Mystic Mondays is to create a tarot deck that would empower people to connect to their inner voice while having fun in the process.
Grace was inspired to create the deck after working with the classic Rider-Waite deck, since she realized that something was missing for her. She was looking for a connection to the deck, but that version felt too outdated; so she created her own.
This led to Modern Mystics, Duong’s very own deck! They just launched a Kickstarter, and decks should start shipping in October. And in lieu of a guidebook, they’ve created an app — so you can learn the cards on-the-go and save trees in the process.
Overall, Grace is on a mission to redefine what tarot looks like.
"Tarot doesn’t have to be this heavy dark thing and it doesn’t have to be so serious. When you go inwards and ask yourself those hard questions, oftentimes you already know the answers. It’s a matter of trusting your own inner voice and listening to your intuition," she says.
The deck features plenty of primary colors, energetic animals, and sacred geometry, all with the intention of allowing yourself to connect to your intuition. The goal of any tarot deck is to get you into the proper space to read the cards; one where head, heart, and intuition are all on the same page. In this case, think flamingos for The Lovers; a cloaked, vaguely abstract woman for The Magician; and a tiger for Strength.
Grace also has some words of advice for the new tarot reader who may be anxious about starting their journey. The first thing? Trust yourself! There’s no “wrong” way to read the cards, so be patient and compassionate with yourself as you’re learning.
Also, it’s totally okay to ask for help! Grace suggests asking your spirit guides, or angels, or whoever you pray to, for extra guidance and assistance for the highest good of all involved. Another handy-dandy trick? Keep a tarot journal! Record your thoughts and allow yourself to interpret the cards on your own terms. You can also pull a card each morning and record how the themes of the pull played out during the day.
And last but not least, have some fun! It’s okay to make mistakes! Say what you feel and always go with what feels right. Trust your intution and enjoy your deck!
