My Chemical Romance just dropped a teaser video and it will drive you crazy
It doesn’t take a keenly trained eye to see signs that the 2000s are definitely making a comeback have been overwhelmingly abundant as of late. As if the reemergence of Gilmore Girls didn’t spark enough mass emotional overload, rock bands we love(d) are stirring it up all over the place. While Third Eye Blind was busy pissing off Republicans in Cleveland, emo kings My Chemical Romance released a video that excited fans have assumed is the start of a major comeback in the making.
Three years after announcing their split, the band uploaded the brief snippet to their Facebook page and it’s since amassed more than 11 million views (we unabashedly claim roughly one million of those). The teaser features a billowing flag set to the intro music from 2006’s The Black Parade. It eventually comes to an eerie close with the display of the date Sept. 23,2016.
Given that this date is just a month shy of the album’s 10-year anniversary, fans are rightfully freaking out over the prospect of a possible reunion. Also, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that a re-issue of The Black Parade is on the way, complete with previously unreleased demos.
If you’re among the many music fans who were strongly influenced by the pop punk music scene, you’re probably still nursing wounds from the band’s breakup in 2013. But don’t worry, we totally won’t judge you for applying tons of eyeliner just so you can cry it off while watching this video for the millionth time.
