A musical parody of The Office is coming to New York City, and that’s what she said

We’ve seen Spongebob make his way to Broadway (and get nominated for a Tony!), so it should come as no surprise that more pop culture-inspired musicals are springing up. And we just got word that a few comedy fans are bringing a musical parody of The Office to Times Square in New York City. We love Dunder Mifflin, but never imagined we’d one day get to see Jim, Pam, Michael and the gang sing songs about paper.

The Office: A Musical Parody will open at The Theater Center this fall, with tickets going on sale in June. It’s just a block away from Michael’s favorite place to get a New York slice (Sbarro) and includes song titles such as, “Why is There a Camera Crew?,” “That’s What She Said!,” “WUPHF! (There It Is),” and “Threat Level Mid Afternoon”.

No, we’re not joking.

Honestly, we’re not sure how they’ll be able to fit nine seasons worth of gold into a single production, but we have faith.

The Office musical isn’t the first pop culture-inspired musical parody we’ve seen in the last few years. Creators Bob and Tobly McSmith are also responsible for shows like Friends! The Musical Parody, Bayside! The Musical!, and Full House: The Musical! And while we trust we’re in good hands, we’re also admittedly curious about how they’re going to pull off parodying something that’s already non-ironically hilarious in its own right. Only time will tell…
