Mexico’s spring music festivals might be the alternative to Coachella you’re looking for
Listen up, music festival lovers: if it wasn’t in the cards for you to attend this year’s Coachella festivities (or your computer crashed in the massive cyber line), there’s a silver lining on the horizon. Because as it turns out, there are music festivals happening in Mexico around the same time with pretty dope lineups of their own.
Have we sparked your interest? Then let’s review exactly who you can expect at these under-the-radar festivals.
While it seems Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead were already booked during these time slots, the Ceremonia festival presented by Vans managed to score some very solid performers come April 1 in Mexico City. For starters, there’s Björk (~huzzah~). Then there’s M.I.A. and James Blake, along with Underworld, Beachhouse, and everyone mentioned in the poster below.
Then there’s Pa’l Norte in Monterrey that’s bringing back our favorite The O.C. band of all time: The Killers! M.I.A. will also make the rounds at the festival come March 31 and April 1 (she’s one busy lady!). She’ll be joined by music heavyweights Jason Derulo, Maná, Kaskade, Placebo, and more.
Thrown by the same folks responsible for KCON LA and NY, KCON Mexico takes the stage in Mexico City on March 17 and 18. Expect the likes of BTS, Eric Name, Astro, Red Velvet and more to rock the venue. It’s coming up fast, though, so if you’re interested act soon!
While these music festivals may not have the celeb attendee super power or the boho Indio street style of Coachella, we’re willing to bet they’re every inch as cool. Heck, they may even be the next Coachella once word gets out about them!
