Just kidding, “Mulan” *might* include the songs, so there’s a chance we’ll still get down to business

Disney is currently on a pretty big kick to turn their classic animated movies into live-action extravaganzas. Just recently, we were treated to a splendid remake of Beauty and the Beast (which has made so much money, we could probably buy Beast’s castle right now). One of the next movies on the roster is a live-action adaptation of Mulan and wake up the ancestors, this is important.

However, the live-action Mulan might not include the songs from the animated movie. That means, no “Reflection.” No, “Honor to us All,” and absolutely no, “I’ll Make A Man Out of You,” which is a crying shame.

This horrible decision was first floated around earlier in the week, when Mulan’s director, Niki Caro, mentioned to Moviefone that “[there will be] no songs right now, much to the horror of my children.”

This statement was backed up, when Disney’s president of production, Sean Bailey, told Entertainment Weekly that Mulan is “not currently intended to be [a musical],” but “nothing is off the table,” when it comes to singing.

That brings us to today, when The Los Angeles Times caught up with Caro, and once again asked about the songs. Go ahead and thank your lucky cricket, because it turns out there’s still a chance Mulan will include the songs, as Caro “[hasn’t even started working on [the movie] yet.”

“I don’t know where that’s come from, Caro explained. “We’ve never talked about songs, and no decision has been made...[but this commotion] is exciting that people are this passionate [about the songs].

YOU BETTER BELIEVE WE’RE PASSIONATE WHEN IT COMES TO SAVING CHINA via Mulan. Mulan saves China. It’s her. All her. She did it, you go girl.

At least now Disney knows that we pretty eager to hear these songs come to life in the live-action film, and it’d be best to include them. Don’t make the gods angry.
