Genius “Harry Potter” fan just imagined his life as the Muggle IT guy at Hogwarts
I think we can all agree that life would be way more fun if we were wizards. Imagine getting your Hogwarts owl, being whisked away to live in a beautiful old castle and practice things like brewing potions, casting spells and riding a broom. Wouldn’t life be grand if you could go for a stroll in Hogsmeade, play with tricks at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and have a Butterbeer at Three Broomsticks?
One fan took this wizarding world fantasy to a new level with his Tumblr account The Setup Wizard. It’s the fictional blog of a Muggle named Jonathan Dart, working as the Hogwarts IT guy. Because yes—even witches and wizards need some tech support every once and a while.
“I just entered this ‘wizarding world’ 3 days ago. This is all entirely new to me,” Jonathan wrote on Tumblr. “I’m writing this because I’ve learned through the grapevine that other magical schools are planning on making the same jump, and I’m hoping my experiences can help other outsiders down the road.”
Jonathan documents the problems he encounters on the Tumblr. And you know what? There are way more than you would think! On one of his first days, he discovered a server room in the Room of Requirement (and unfortunately, it wasn’t really a real server room—it was just there because he desperately needed it at the time). Also, fun fact: The Headmaster keeps thinking that he can unlock his computer with the password “Alohomora.” (He can’t.) It’s clear that wizard magic and Muggle technology don’t quite mix!
“It took them until 2016, but both students and staff alike have finally caved and demanded that their cell phones work on school grounds,” Jonathan continued, “and with that request they had to find a ‘muggle’ (a term I’m quickly learning to detest) to install wifi and maintain any technology that functions on school grounds.”
