William Daniels, aka Mr. Feeny, just stopped a burglary attempt at his home

Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World will always be one of our favorite fictional mentors. And recently, William Daniels, the actor who brought the role of Feeny to life, stopped a burglary in his home, proving that he’s just as much a hero in real life as he is on TV.

ABC7 News reports that 91-year-old Daniels was enjoying a quiet night with his wife, Bonnie Bartlett, on October 28th when a would-be burglar forced open the door to his Los Angeles-area home. Thinking fast, the Emmy Award-winning actor turned on the lights, startling the intruder. The Los Angeles Police Department told ABC7 that the attempted break-in occurred just before 9:30 p.m. PDT. Thankfully, investigators think the attack was random.

"Luckily, Mr. Daniels was able to frighten away the person and the LAPD quickly responded," Daniels' publicist said in a statement to ABC7. "They are both well. Mr. Daniels thanks all his fans for their concern."

After news of the attack, Will Friedle, aka Eric Matthews, had some words of appreciation for his former onscreen teacher.

"Don't ever mess with Mr. Feeny!" he tweeted. "#LoveYouBillAndBonnie."

And fans were pretty impressed, too.

Even though the intruder didn’t stick around, we imagine that if they had, Daniels would have given them a stern talking to—and probably some Feeny-inspired words of wisdom.

Needless to say, we’re glad both Daniels and his wife are okay.
