This moving company is doing something truly amazing for victims of domestic violence

There are so many sad and painful reasons why it can be hard for those trapped in abusive relationships to leave their violent partners. One moving company aims to make this difficult transition a little easier.  Meathead Movers, located in Central California, has partnered with the non-profit Good Shepherd (an organization that helps mothers and children rebuild their lives after surviving domestic violence), to help victims move their belongings while their abusers are out of the home.

“Meathead Movers will work directly with the nonprofit to identify the abusive situations and provide moving services at no cost,” a spokeswoman told LA Weekly . “Not only do these services help the victims of domestic abuse but they directly impact Meathead employees — consisting of predominantly young men who believe that real men don’t hit women, real men help those in need.”

Meathead Movers are thrilled to be a part of the solution.

“We know how hard it is to pack up someone’s life and move it to a new location — but it’s unimaginable to think about a woman and her children trying to pack up all their belongings and flee before the abuser returns home,” Aaron Steed, president and CEO of Meathead, told LA Weekly. “When we realized we had the resources to help provide a fresh start for these victims, we knew Good Shepherd was the perfect organization to connect us with those who need our services most.”

We are so grateful to this moving company for doing its part to break the cycle of domestic violence and help so many women and children in need. We hope that more moving companies sit up, take note, and start offering this necessary service.
