Here are the upcoming movies that just won big at the Venice Film Festival
Alert the everyone — our queen Emma Stone is back on top and better than ever. The beloved actress has just received the “Best Actress” award at the Venice Film Festival, adding even more buzz for her new movie La La Land. We had no doubt this was already going to be a spectacular film, but seeing her get awarded for her role in it is making us even more excited about (finally) getting to experience it ourselves.
The film joins the ranks of other upcoming movies that just won big. Our friends at Deadline have a full list, but here are just a few of the highlights:
Grand Jury Prize
Tom Ford’s new movie Nocturnal Animals is only his second feature and he has already won the Grand Jury Prize. It centers around a translator — played by Amy Adams — who is instructed to help her country communicate with alien life. It looks partly like a dope sci-fi slick and partly like gorgeous clothes commercial.

Golden Lion Award
This black and white revenge drama from Filipino director Lav Diaz took the big award home last night.

Silver Lion
This award is given to the best director at the festival. This year, it was a two way tie! Andre Konchalovsky and Amat Escalante share the coveted prize for their works.
