All the new movies streaming on Netflix in November. You are welcome.

I like November for a lot of reasons: you have Thanksgiving AND Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa in your near future, nature is killing the fall aesthetic game, and it’s finally cold enough to not feel guilty about really getting to know your Netflix account on a deeply personal level. Right? Right. Now that we’ve established I’m a couch monster and so are you, here are all the new movies you need to binge-watch on Netflix in November that I have very kindly arranged into a weekly schedule. You are welcome, obviously.

November 1st

On this day in 1960, future handsome president John F. Kennedy first announced his idea for the Peace Corps. In celebration of all the brave men and women dedicating their lives to social justice, watch The Spongebob Squarepants Movie (2004). Spongebob ALSO leaves his home in search of justice: someone stole King Neptune’s crown, and they should really give it back.

November 7th

November 7th is associated with the tarot card 6 of Cups, which appears in times of nostalgia. Like, looking towards the past. Like, oh, maybe you were adopted and you always felt like something or someone was missing and then you found out you had a twin sister? Like in the documentary Twinsters (2014) that I’m already so prepared to cry about?

November 14th

Okay, the theme for this week is John Mulaney is a Handsome Prince Who Has A New Comedy Special Called John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid (2015) So Go Watch It Already, You Guys. It’s a very straightforward theme.

November 21st

November 21st will be the 395th anniversary of the Mayflower reaching Massachusetts. Now, they didn’t actually leave their ship until late December, but, you know, still important. Another important, historic thing is the November 20th release of Season 1 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, a Netflix original series that focuses on a lesser known character within the Marvel universe. Who also happens to be a woman and not another muscle-bound weepy guy. I know this technically is not a movie but I don’t care.

November 28th

Late November marks Sagittarius season. Sagittarius humans are all about independence and freedom —they’re wanderers. In 2012, when Raf Simmons was named the new Creative Director of Dior, people were really apprehensive to embrace someone with such a minimalist, independent POV. The struggle to find a common ground between contemporary and couture is documented in the fashion documentary Dior and I (2014).
