What other movies has Mary J. Blige been in? Here’s what you should watch ASAP

R&B icon Mary J. Blige was nominated for *two* Academy Awards for the 2018 Oscars. Yes, two. Blige was nominated twice over for Mudbound, for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song. But what other movies has Mary J. Blige been in? You might be surprised by the answer.

Mary J. Blige only has 20 or so acting credits to her name, and most are playing herself.

Blige has guest-acted in a number of television series, including 30 Rock and How To Get Away With Murder. Blige mostly plays a version of herself, or appears as a guiding figure. Her earliest acting credits are in videos about her career. The films Blige has appeared in include 2001’s Prison Song, 2009’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself, 2012’s Rock of Ages, and Black Nativity in 2013. After that, it’s Mudbound, for which she received two Oscar nominations. Seriously. Mary J. Blige is that good.

Her next film role is so absurd, it will make you smile.

After tackling Mudbound, Blige will voice a garden gnome in the sequel to Gnomeo & Juliet, which is a real movie for kids that came out a few years ago. In Sherlock Gnomes, which is actually its title, Blige will play a character named Irene. No, we don’t know why either. But it already sounds great.

It would be *unreal* to watch her pick up statues for her first nominations, and when was the last time a first-time nominee was nominated twice over for the same film? Blige is just a legend at everything she touches. Here’s hoping she becomes the next star to EGOT.
