The Moulin Rouge! musical released its cover of “Come What May,” and we’ve got chills like it’s 2001
The year is 2001, Moulin Rouge! has just hit theaters, and young people all over the world are like, “Oh, is this what love feels like?” If you ever find yourself pining for the musical love story between Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, you might want to experience those feels all over again with Moulin Rouge! — the live, in front of our eyes musical.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical will open at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre June 27th, 2018 before its expected Broadway run. To tease us, they’ve released a clip of theater bae Aaron Tveit in the McGregor role singing “Come What May.” Sadly, unlike the film, there’s no Kidman part in this clip, meaning Tveit is just singing the song to nobody which — we’re not going to lie — doesn’t tug at our heartstrings quite like it did in the movie.
That being said, and no shade to the vocal skills of both McGregor and Kidman, but Tveit can SANG. In case you aren’t already aboard the Tveit train (and honestly, hop on), he was one of the few non-movie stars in the Anne Hathaway Les Misérables adaptation and also played Danny Zuko in the iconic Grease Live! television musical.
But back to Moulin Rouge!
