This is what the world’s most expensive home looks like
California is home to the most expensive real estate in the United States — specifically, one home in Beverly Hills that is listed for $195 million. That’s a lot of dollars. But across the pond from the United States sits a house that blows the Beverly Hills mansion out of the water (the Atlantic, to be exact).
The world’s most expensive home is the Château Louis XIV, which is located 15 minutes outside Triangle d’Or, a neighborhood in Paris that hosts some of the finest, swankiest shopping in the world. According to Bloomberg, the villa, built by “haute-couture” estate designer Cogemad and designed by French architect Pierre Bortolussi, reportedly has been sold to an anonymous Middle Eastern buyer for more than $301 million. THREE HUNDRED AND ONE MILLION DOLLARS, YOU GUYS!
That officially breaks the world record for most expensive home on Earth — the previous title held by a penthouse in London which sold for about $221 million in 2011.
The Château is meant to resemble a 17th century castle, but construction started only eight years ago. On their website, Cogemad states that the home still fulfills the French standards for what constitutes a historical monument. But for anyone who was worried, the website also states that the home includes cutting edge technology.
The home sits on 56 acres of land and has 53,800 square feet of living space. Amenities include numerous reception rooms that can hold up to 1,000 guests (who even knows 1,000 people?), home theater, wine cellar, indoor racquetball court, indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna, massage room, ball room, nightclub and a massive aquarium — just to name a few.
