Morgan Freeman was presented with a Life Achievement Award at the 24th annual SAG Awards this Sunday night, where the award-winning actor called out gender-specific trophies in award shows.
After sharing a hilarious exchange with Rita Moreno concerning his hat obstructing his face, Freeman proved his icon status in his acceptance speech and said:
“I’m gonna tell you what’s wrong with this statue. It works from the back. From the front, it’s gender-specific. Maybe I started something.
“Maybe I started something.” Morgan Freeman just dropped the mic by calling out the SAG statue for being gender specific. 🖐🎤 #SAGAwards pic.twitter.com/UuZRvNkVqg

Stay woke, Morgan. Stay woke.
Freeman’s speech was the textbook definition of a mic drop moment, and the internet took notice.

false
When Morgan Freeman tells you to make awards gender neutral, you best make new awards. #SAGAwards pic.twitter.com/QGovaQSb9z

Oprah 2020? We’re also getting a Freeman 2020 vibe, TBH.
