Let this Monty the Penguin holiday commercial melt your heart!

I don’t want to give too much away before you watch the video, but I will say this: when you’re a kid, your life is led by magic and imagination. Anything is possible —including being best friends with an adorable, fun-loving penguin. In this Christmas advert for the UK department store John Lewis, Monty the Penguin is our beloved star and mascot for all things wonderful about the holiday season (I know! It’s November already! I keep forgetting).

This commercial illustrates the whimsical life of Sam and his pet penguin, Monty. The two watch movies together, play hide-and-seek, build forts, and go sledding (I’ll let you guess who reigns supreme at THAT activity) to the soundtrack of the John Lennon cover, “Real Love,” sung by Tom Odell. Feel all the feelings possible as you watch Monty the Penguin look on longingly at all those who have a special somebody during the holidays, and how Sam figures out just how to solve this problem.
