This mom shared her pride for her postpartum body on Instagram, and it is so important

Now more than ever, it’s important that we have body positivity on our social media — and in real life. For many of us, social media can either be a place of great inspiration or a triggering mess. That’s why it’s so important that one mother is getting real about her postpartum body — and all that it is capable of — on Instagram, and it absolutely something that we all need to take note of.

As a mother of four, Brittany Craig's postpartum body has endured a lot. But instead of feeling ashamed, she's proud of what her body has done, and she is sharing beautiful, unfiltered images of her postpartum body on social media.

On Instagram, she is pictured holding her newborn son, Kain, a week after his birth, belly stretch marks exposed.

Craig’s caption reads:

“I am beyond proud of what my body has endured and accomplished in the last 10 years! My body has grown and housed 4 human beings ― 3 of them being over 9 lbs, and somehow delivered them into this world. Minus a few rips and tears, hernias, hemorrhoids and stretch marks, my body has done the most miraculous things!"

Craig explained to the Huffington Post that accepting your new body is a journey:

“Learning to adjust, accept and most importantly embrace your ‘new’ body takes time and support ― something not every woman has!

She also spoke to HuffPo about the realistic attitude women need to adopt in the face of a body-shaming media:

“After giving birth everything is out of whack!...Your body is an ooey gooey mess. Your hormones are all over the place. It took 10 months for that to happen, and it should take at least 10 for it to go back!

Whether you’re a parent or not, we could all use a reminder of how important it is to feel proud of the things our bodies have accomplished. We commend Craig for being brave enough to share her story on Instagram, and give us courage to do the same as well.
