This mom found a genius phone hack to make sure her teen isn’t lying

Many of us have told little lies to our parents here and there, and a lot of times we even got away with it. But we just heard that a mom’s lie-detecting phone trick is going viral, and it’s so simple that it’s actually kinda genius.
Basically, Heather Steinkopf texts her daughter, Kaelyn, when she’s out with her friends, and to make sure she is where she says she is, Steinkopf requests that Kaelyn perform a specific action and text her the photo. You know, like a “thumbs up” with a certain expression on her face; something that Kaelyn can’t quickly grab from her existing camera roll (which apparently some sneaky/genius teens often do).
Good idea, right?!
She’s a tough mom, but it gets results!
That tweet has since been shared several thousand times, because the internet people get it.
Just for the record, I'm 30, married & own my own home. I STILL get this stuff from my mom. #TrueStory

It's definitely a Mom thing. I've done this to all my kids lol!!

Well, some of them.
The young woman drives… There's a point in one's life when you must trust your nearly-adult teenager. Saying "before you lie" is crappy.

false
Even if you think it’s a little excessive or overbearing, hey, it works for this mom and daughter and it’s all in the name of love. It definitely seems like a playful way to establish trust and boundaries, and they might not need to go through the (amusing) routine once solid trust is reached on both sides.
At least Kaelyn knows her mom just wants her to be safe and honest about what she’s doing. Moms…we gotta hand it to them, right?! That job is 24/7 and hard.
We have a feeling other families are going to try this out, because it’s an easy way to clarify whereabouts. In the meantime, we’re looking out for the next #momlifehack. Or maybe #daughterlifehack.
