The same mistake that happened at the Oscars also happened at the iHeartRadio Awards, oops!

After the “Best Picture” fiasco that we saw at this years Oscars, we thought we’d seen it all. But the same mistake that happened at the Academy Awards also happened to Zayn Malik at the iHeartRadio Awards, and yeah, it was still awkward.
Zayn was awarded iHeartRadios Best Music Video for “Pillowtalk,” even though it was actually Fifth Harmony that won for their video “Work from Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The most cringeworthy part was that Zayn wasn’t even at the awards, since he was in Paris. To accept his award, he posted a video on Twitter, thanking his fans and his co-star, girlfriend Gigi Hadid. Although the video is no longer up, the tweet is, and we still feel residually uncomfortable for Zayn. It was then officially announced that it was Fifth Harmony that won.
Congrats #Harmonizers. You helped @fifthharmony win #BestFanArmy, #BestCover and #BestMusicVideo at our #iHeartAwards! pic.twitter.com/dNYXQxU2UX

The group took home awards for Best Fan Army, Best Cover and Best Music Video, and they were obviously very excited. Thankfully, even though Zayn made an acceptance speech, it was only on the internet and not filmed on live television. The strangest part of the night, however, has to be the fact that Zayn won Best Solo Breakout artist at the awards, which left many speculating if this was a category invented after Zayn lost to Fifth Harmony. Although other nominees are listed, including Camila Cabello, Niall Hora, Louis Tomlinson , Olivia O’Brie, there was no press coverage of it beforehand…

Either way, congratulations to Fifth Harmony and Zayn on their wins. Let’s hope this is the last time something like this happens…at least for a while!
