This Missy Elliott renaissance is getting better and better

The Missy Elliott renaissance is getting realer by the day! Following last week’s surprise remix of Jack Ü’’s headbanger, “Take Ü There,” Missy confirmed her return to the studio on Thursday with this incredible tweet:

Uhhh, talk about supa dupa fly! Missy is back and working with none other than producer extraordinaire, Pharrell Williams. This isn’t the first time the pair has worked together, though. Back in 2005, the two joined forces for their spacey stomper, “On and On“.

Although there’s no “official” confirmation re: Missy’s forthcoming album, there have been a series of promising signs. Just a few weeks ago, Missy shared another in-studio picture with longtime friend and legendary producer, Timbaland. Though Timbaland confirmed Missy’s forthcoming album all the way back in July 2014, Missy has been more than a little secretive about the project.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM’s Sway in the Morning, Missy kept her mouth zipped. She said, “I don’t want to say too much ’cause in this day and time, you say too much, boy, you say something, they will come back two weeks later like, ‘Uhhh, where your album at?’”  We totally get it Missy, but I mean, come on, really, can you blame us?!

For what it’s worth, we’re at peace knowing Missy is in the studio with Timbaland and Pharrell. Until we’ve got our paws on some new tunes, we’ll just travel back to 2005 and listen to this Missy/Pharrell collaboration on repeat:
