Mischa Barton is reportedly in hospital, and we’re sending her all our positive thoughts
We’re sad to report that Mischa Barton has reportedly been hospitalized, and we’re sending her all our love and positive thoughts at this time.
It was reported by TMZ on Thursday (January 26th) that Mischa Barton had voluntarily been admitted to hospital after authorities responded to a disturbance call at the actor’s home. The star is said to be undergoing a mental evaluation after it was reported that she was acting strangely and exhibiting concerning behavior in her backyard.
A L.A. County Sheriff’s Department spokesman confirmed that the actor had voluntarily been transported to hospital for evaluation, and we truly hope she is okay.
Barton, who is most known for her role of Marissa Cooper in the teen drama The O.C. had reportedly spent Wednesday night celebrating her birthday with friends Los Angeles.
Speaking to People, a party attendee said that Barton appeared to be having a good time at the event. This is in stark contrast to TMZ‘s report, that alleges that Barton was “rambling about her mom being a witch, the world shattering … and Ziggy Stardust.”
While, of course, there is no confirmation that Barton was indeed “rambling” (Sergeant Duncan of West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department told People that Barton was speaking in coherent sentences and went voluntarily to the hospital), it’s still worrying to hear that Mischa felt that she was in a state where she needed to go to hospital, but we’re glad that she decided to go and see if everything was alright, and we’re sending her all our love.
The star has previously spoken about her struggles with mental health. In 2013, she told People that she had previously had what she called “a full breakdown.”
Explaining how she had been under massive stress, parting too hard, and working too much, Barton said that she had been confronted by her family and agents. She was later admitted to hospital after blacking out due to taking a sedative. Upon waking up, she said, she became distraught and threatened suicide. She was later placed on a psych ward for four days under California’s 5150 hold.

We truly hope that Mischa is okay, and we’re sending her so much love and strength right now. Whatever happened, we’re just glad that she is getting the help that she needs right now, and is in a safe place. As we know, one’s mental health is no joke, and should be treated in the same way as any other health problem.
