Mischa Barton says she was sick on “Dancing With The Stars”

Just last week, we were pumped about Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin’s fab performance on Dancing With The Stars, when she killed it dancing the tango. Unfortunately, this week, The OC star Mischa Barton is struggling on the dance floor but she’s determined that she and her partner, Artem Chigvintsev, will still come out on top.

Last night, Mischa and Artem danced the cha-cha to “Pata Pata” by Miriam Makeba. . . but not before their video package aired, showing Mischa struggling in rehearsals and repeatedly answering questions from Artem and producers with brusque “whatever.” As the video package played, Artem kept trying to cheer up Mischa as he noticed her mood fading, but it was evident during her performance that she was definitely not feeling the cha-cha.

“It’s been a really rough week,” Mischa Barton told the judges last night as she wiped away tears. “This was a really bad rehearsal. It was tough to do it live when you haven’t done it right once.”

Although the judges were gentle with her, they still explained that they couldn’t give her good marks. “You tried to get into character. There was this cheeky, charming feeling. There was a lot of cha cha cha there, but it just didn’t fit to the music,” Bruno Tonioli told Mischa before giving the pair a 15 out of 30. Although they Mischa and Artem ended up in the bottom three, it was Geraldo Rivera and Edyta Sliwinska who ended up going home.

Mischa attributes her performance to illness. “We both got sick since last week which wasn’t great, so on antibiotics, trying to get through the dance, through our cha cha and stay positive. . . You have five days to learn it and get through it, and when you’re not feeling 100 percent from the last dance, [it’s tough],” she told US Weekly.

She’s determined, though, to give the next week her all. “I think we’ll probably get back to a better place now,” she told Us Weekly. “I just feel like this whole week just psyched me out, and maybe now it’s time to just attack it with positivity.”
