Miranda Lambert didn’t want to write a typical breakup album following her divorce from Blake Shelton
Breakups are never easy, especially when they’re in the public eye. But for Miranda Lambert, she didn’t want to take the typical route following her split from Blake Shelton back in 2015.
Lambert and Shelton’s split was a pretty public moment, and with both of them being musicians and artists, the only thing that they could do was channel their experiences into their work. Shelton spoke about the divorce on his album If I’m Honest, while for Lambert’s 2016 record, The Weight of These Wings, she took a different approach to the whole situation— she really didn’t want to make a typical breakup album.

Speaking to Billboard in a new interview, the country music star said that, on the day she wrote “Vice,” she knew that she had to do things in a different way.
“I walked in with guns blazing,” she said. “I just knew one thing: I didn’t want a breakup record. I was like, ‘Let’s feel it all.’ I was ready to have the days where I can’t even stand up and the days where I’m celebrating.”
When The Weight of These Wings was ready for release, Lambert also went down an alternative path, deciding to not do any TV appearances or interviews to talk about the album.
"I just didn’t need to talk about the record, she explained to Billboard. "If you want to hear my side of the story or my opinion of what happened, it’s all on there. There’s no mystery anymore — take from it what you will.

Despite her sassy and fiery country music and attitude, the singer said that she did struggle to keep things together.
“I won’t look at things ever again in the same light, because different things in your life bring you to a deeper level with yourself,” she said. “I won’t take pain for granted anymore.”
While Blake Shelton’s relationship with Gwen Stefani has been pretty public, Miranda Lambert has found love again, too.
In fact, the star has been linked to fellow singer Anderson East, and they make one cute couple.
It’s great to hear that Miranda Lambert was able to channel something that was clearly a difficult situation and put it into her art. It sounds like she learned a lot from her experiences, and has used that to help herself grow as a person.
