Minnie Mouse Gets a Wardrobe Upgrade
Minnie Mouse was “born” in 1928. That makes her 85 in present day. And while her signature flouncy red-and-white polka dot dress conveys perpetual youth, her recent makeover for a Paris fashion show is much more suitable for a distinguished lady of her age. Long-sleeved, royal blue and equipped with a ruby-red tiara in place of her big bow, the dress was created by Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz.
How can a bejeweled, shoulder-pad clad giant mouse not shine in fabulous silver shoes on a runway in Paris (especially after that “skinny Minnie” 2.0 disaster)? Well, according to one show attendee, the frock didn’t necessarily allow her to shine in the most flattering light.
Oof. But seriously, folks: do we really need to be seeing Minnie’s bloomers at her age? Of COURSE we do. Because she’s Minnie Mouse and we love everything about her. Even the giant yellow clod-hoppers. Thankfully, Minnie will only don the designer duds for special events around Paris, so we can all forget how old she actually is and try to remember how young she makes us all feel! (Besides, would anyone in their right mind turn down a makeover from Lanvin?! I’d pretty much gush if they put me in a burlap potato sack.)
