Mindy Kaling was blown away by how generous Reese Witherspoon and Oprah were on the set of “A Wrinkle in Time”

The power of female friendship is just everything, which is why we’re loving the stories that Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and Oprah Winfrey have about working on A Wrinkle in Time.

In case you missed it, at D23, Disney’s 3-day fan convention, the trailer for A Wrinkle in Time was finally revealed, and it looks absolutely breathtaking. We were already blown away by the first pictures from the upcoming fantasy adventure movie, which is based on the 1963 novel by Madeleine L’Engle, and now that we’ve gotten a glimpse of it in action, we’re even more excited to see it when it comes out this spring.

While the film certainly looks spectacular, from the sounds of it, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and Oprah Winfrey had a spectacular time making it, too.

The three actors, who play Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Which, respectively, spoke to Entertainment Tonight about their time together filming the movie, and it sounds like it was a hoot.

“We had a lot of major conversations in the hair and makeup room every morning. It was great camaraderie from the very first day,” Winfrey revealed. “Reese was head DJ, down at the end chair, playing music that I hadn’t heard since 1945. Who knew that she had all this soul sister in her? Al Green [was] rocking us out and so were a whole lot of people. It was an incredible experience, just to be with each other and to share in this sort of newfound adventure.”

One thing that surprised Kaling was how generous Witherspoon and Winfrey were.

“The two of them are known for their generosity, but it’s not just generosity of things — they want to share physically with you. Their favorite English muffins, their favorite music, their favorite makeup brands, but also with advice and life experience,” Kaling said. “You just come in every day and learn something incredible.”

While filming on location, the three stars also took the opportunity to soak up the beauty that is New Zealand, where they were shooting (something that they all documented on social media). In fact, from the sounds of it, Reese Witherspoon was pretty organized about the whole thing.

“[I said], ‘You guys, we’re gonna wake up at 5, and then at 7 we’re gonna hike, and at 9 o’clock we are going to a vineyard,” she said.

“‘Then we’ll go to a yoga place and then we’re gonna take a helicopter,'” Oprah added, laughing, before both of them said that they wanted to squeeze all the juice out of that orange.

We love that Mindy, Oprah, and Reese found the time to hang out with each other and to take in the sights of New Zealand. We can imagine that those lengthy sessions in the makeup chair were a hoot, and we’re actually jealous that we couldn’t be a part of their bonding sessions.
