Mindy Kaling says she’s “anxious” about motherhood
Becoming a mom is a lot of hard work — and while there are always people around to give advice, there’s no manual on doing it right. Mindy Kaling admitted having anxiety about motherhood, and we’re sure that a lot of people know that feeling all too well. Even though you always have a bunch of time to prep, you never really know what it’s going to be like until you experience it.
Kaling opened up about motherhood during an interview with Today that aired on Sunday. In it, she said she’s hoping she’ll be a “fun mom,” but that might not be the case when her little girl arrives.
"Right now, I just feel so anxious," Kaling said. "But, I'd like to be the fun mom. I know I'm gonna be the dorky mom. So, if I could be kind of fun, too, I think that would be nice."
There’s definitely nothing wrong with being a dorky mom. Here’s the full interview, which Kaling did on the set of The Mindy Project, which just finished filming its last season.

Regardless, she wants to try and channel her own mother, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2012. In the interview, Kaling admitted that her parents left her both “in awe” and “terrified.”
"My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us," she said. "[She] just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did."
We have a feeling that Kaling has a close network of friends and family that’ll help ease her anxiety. And even though she’s got a few fears about what the future holds, we know for sure that she’s going to be an incredible mother. After all, it seems like she’s had such an incredible example in her own life.
