Mindy Kaling Says Reese Witherspoon Got Her the Most Thoughtful Baby Gift
Oprah has some stiff competition in the gift-giving department.
Doesn’t it just seem like Reese Witherspoon would be a good gift giver? Maybe it’s because she owns her own clothing and accessories brand. Or, perhaps it’s because she loves sharing her favorite books with friends and followers. Then again, it could be because she comes across as someone who really has her ish together. Whatever is it, there is now confirmation that Witherspoon gives a good gift. In a November 18th interview with PopSugar, Mindy Kaling talked about the baby gift that Reese Witherspoon gave her, which consisted of several components, all perfectly thought out to make Kaling’s life easier.
“Listen, that gift from Oprah was pretty hard to top,” Kaling said when asked about receiving gifts for her new baby, Spencer. In 2017, when Kaling welcomed her daughter, Katherine, her A Wrinkle in Time co-star Oprah Winfrey had a hard-carved bookcase delivered to her home. It was full of classic children’s books, all with “Katherine’s Book Club” on them.
But this time around, Kaling said one celeb friend went above and beyond after she and Spencer arrived home from the hospital in September. “I will say that, and this is maybe unsurprising… Reese.”
I felt like the minute I got back from the hospital, there was a gorgeous gift for Spencer, with beautiful clothes and toys, Kaling told PopSugar. And this is why you know a gift is from Reese Witherspoon — she also got my older kid something.
She joked, “My daughter, who didn’t do anything, got all these beautiful clothes and toys, too. And she sent us food, so we didn’t have to cook for four days. So, that’s to me just a very Reese Witherspoon-type present where it’s thoughtful but in a very macro way. Like, she really knows what’s going on in your life. That was impressive to me.”
Clothes and toys for the new baby, clothes and toys for the older kid so she doesn’t get jealous, and food for Kaling so she doesn’t have to cook? Yeah, Witherspoon knows what she’s doing. If Kaling ever had to give a present to Witherspoon or Winfrey, the pressure would be on.
