Mindy Kaling has some major beef with “Ocean’s Eight” and like, we get it

Mindy Kaling is not only number one in our hearts, she’s also pretty damn famous. Yet, Kaling acknowledged that she is not as paparazzi-worthy as some of her Ocean’s Eight costars. During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the star and creator of The Mindy Project was not pleased to report that while she has been on set for the upcoming movie, the paparazzi don’t care about her. That’s because the only person who they want to photograph is music superstar Rihanna.

Meyers noted that Ocean’s Eight has “one of the most incredible casts ever put together” and he could not be more right. Along with Kaling, the other people in the cast of this all-female Ocean’s Eleven spin-off are Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, and Awkwafina. But while it’s a dream scenario for us, it’s becoming a nightmare for our poor, dear Kaling.

"With that group of women, I've never felt so unfamous in my life," Kaling said.

As she jokingly told Meyers, people keep mistaking Kaling for Bullock’s assistant. Yet, her real beef came with how the paparazzi are only there to capture photographs of Rihanna since she noted there is a major difference between movie-TV famous and “international pop star famous.”

Kaling said that all eight women of the Ocean’s Eight (Bullock is playing Danny Ocean’s sister) recently filmed a scene together and the paparazzi were swarming once they stepped outside.

"I was talking to Anne Hathaway and Rihanna was kind of behind us. There was a sea of paparazzi taking photos and everything like that. And I was kind of feeling cool and famous. Then Rihanna took a left to her trailer, which was not in the same direction that me and Anne were going, and the paparazzi left so quickly. It was like a desert," Kaling said.

While we know that the paparazzi had to be interested in Mindy Kaling and OSCAR-WINNER Anne Hathaway too, this is pretty hilarious. “Anne and I are talking and I’m trying to have this sexy conversation with Anne Hathaway and no one’s around or cares even,” she added.

Kaling also made sure to note that while Hathaway and her are dressed up in the above photo, Rihanna is wearing a parka and jeans. And still, the paparazzi didn’t care about them as much as Rihanna, with Kaling saying:

"They shoved me out of the way to get to her. 'Get out of the way, Sandra Bullock's assistant! We want to talk to Rihanna!'"

While we all know that Kaling is super famous in her own right, we can’t help but find this moment so relatable. Even if we aren’t as lucky to be in a film like Ocean’s Eight like Kaling. So if it’s any consolation, Mindy, know that we’ll always be down to take a photo of you.
