Watch Milo Ventimiglia tear up explaining how his own dad influenced Jack on “This Is Us”

Usually, watching This Is Us makes us cry. Now, it appears just TALKING about This Is Us will get us the waterworks flowing.

Saturday night at the This Is Us PaleyFest in Hollywood, Chrissy Metz — who plays Kate on the show — was the first to shed a tear on the panel (it was because she started singing “You Are My Sunshine” In her head, and like yeah girl, same). But those weren’t the only tears. When asked who influenced the character of Jack on the show, Milo Ventimiglia got visibly choked up.

During the Q&A section of the panel, a nice gentleman in the audience took to the mic to discuss the fact that Jack Pearson has set the bar VERY HIGH when it comes to relationship goals. So, just where did Milo pull from to become this caring, kind, wonderful husband? His own dad.

Milo actually brought his dad (and mom!!) along to PaleyFest with him, and when asked this question, he immediately pointed out into the audience, explaining that his “Pop” was in the house.

That’s when he then went on to explain that he pulled from his own Pop for Jack. Get the tissues ready.

"Dan Fogelman...wrote this man who loves his wife and loves his kids, really simple as that. And I saw that..." Milo trails off, getting emotional himself. "I saw that in my own father. And there's not a moment of my life where I don't think about how he raised us, my sisters and I, and what he gave me, just as a man. So, my dad [inspired Jack]."

New rule: When Milo Ventimiglia cries, we all cry. Not up for discussion.
