Milo Ventimiglia has an epic theory on why everyone’s so obsessed with Jess
When Rory first began her beautiful yet incredibly short relationship with Jess, we all thought that he was the one. Rory! Listen to us! Jess is perfect for you! But how did we come to that conclusion? The man who actually played Jess, Milo Ventimiglia, just shared his theory on what makes Jess so dreamy.
"He had good hair," Ventimiglia told W Magazine during his Lynn Hirschberg Screen Test. "He had that pompadour thing going, and he had dope jackets, and he always had a book in his back pocket."
Can our obsession be written off so simply? There has to be a more complex explanation, right?
On second thought, Ventimiglia might be right. Just look at those tousled locks — and that leather! And you know there’s some classic literature hidden in those jeans somewhere.
"Still to this day," Ventimiglia continued, "you know, it blows me away — the impact of the Jess character, how much everyone was in love with him and wanted to find a guy like Jess. He was kind of trouble, you know.
Right, but like come on. The bad boy is the most likable trope out there. Look at James Dean! We love rebels without causes!
From playing Jess, Ventimiglia has gained some valuable insight into wooing a woman.
"I feel like, well, if you got that hair and you got a cool jacket and you got a book in your pocket, you must be good for a girl," he said to W.
LOL.
From the female perspective, wooing requires ~a little~ more than just those three things. But hey, what a great place to start.
