Powerful photographs from this weekend’s Millions March to end police brutality

On Saturday afternoon, roughly 12,000 protesters filled the streets of Manhattan (with an additional 10,000 in Washington D.C.) to march against police brutality, in the wake of the deaths of unarmed black citizens at the hands of authorities: Eric Garner in Staten Island, Michael Brown in Ferguson, and Tamir Rice in Cleveland.

The protest, named Millions March, was in honor of those men and the many more who have experienced police brutality. The NYC march which began at 2 p.m. went on into the evening, as marchers converged upon the New York Police Department headquarters in downtown Manhattan. Activists poured out from every corner of the city to join in the march. Below, are some of the most moving photos from this Saturday.
