Millie Bobby Brown, UNICEF’s youngest-ever goodwill ambassador, just made the most eloquent speech

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) announced their latest goodwill ambassador (past celebrity ambassadors have included Selena Gomez and Priyanka Chopra), and it’s Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. Besides the honorable distinction, the 14-year-old star is the company’s youngest-ever goodwill ambassador, proving again that age ain’t nothing more than a number.

Brown called the appointment a “powerful privilege,” and detailed her hopes for the coming year at a press conference in New York on November 21st, 2018.

"I will speak out for the millions of children and young people whose voices have been silenced for far too long," she said. "I will shine a light on the issues that vulnerable children and young people have suffered around the world, including representing them at places where they haven't yet had a seat at the table. Most of all, I will make sure children and young people know their rights and I will do everything I can to empower them, to be the change they want to see in the world."

Brown plans to use her social media presence as a platform to speak openly about the issues outlined above and hopes her young age inspires others in her generation to be be as vocal and civic-minded as she is.

UNICEF is a charity aimed at improving the life of children, so who better to empathize than another youth. Congratulations to this talented and charitable teen.
