This elusive millennial pink chocolate is finally coming to the U.S.
For a couple of years now, the millennial pink trend has been huge, and as you probably already know, it’s even spread to food. If you’ve been dying to get in on this but haven’t yet, now’s your chance: a certain pink treat is finally making its way to the United States—millennial pink chocolate, to be precise.
According to the New York Daily News, Chicago-based chocolate company Vosges Haut-Chocolat will be the first to introduce ruby cacao truffles to the U.S. market—this chocolate is actually millennial pink, no joke. The chocolates first surfaced in Shanghai in 2017, so obviously, it was hard for anyone in America to get their hands on the treat. But now all bets are off.
So what does it taste like? Berry Callebaut, the company that first launched the chocolate in China, said it’s the fourth chocolate—after dark, milk, and white—and described it as “not bitter, milky, or sweet, but a tension between berry-fruitiness and luscious smoothness,” while Katrina Markoff, the founder of Vosges Haut-Chocolat, said it’s more like white chocolate with lychee and sour berry flavors, which still leaves us wondering what flavors we might sense on our tongues.
It sounds like something we’ll have to try ourselves to find out, but no matter how tasty it is, who can deny that’s it’s beautiful (and perfectly Instagram-worthy)?
Interested? The millennial pink chocolate goes on sale later this month, and customers will have two options to choose from: Ruby Cerise and Sour Mango. They’re available as a four-piece set (two truffles of each flavor) for $15 on the Vosges Haut-Chocolat website, and you can pre-order them now (but they won’t ship ’til Monday).
This could be the perfect stocking stuffer…or the perfect treat for no reason at all. Can all food be millennial pink from now on?
