Miley Cyrus’s stunning cover of Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers” will make you ugly cry

On her penultimate episode of co-hosting the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Miley Cyrus paid tribute to Tom Petty with a stunning cover of the late singer’s “Wildflowers” — and the results will make you ugly cry.
Sharing a stage alongside dad Billy Ray in a rose pink dress, Cyrus offered a soulful rendition of the song — outfitted with a classical and country twist as acoustics and violin strings filled the stage.

Rock icon Tom Petty passed away on October 2nd after being hospitalized for cardiac arrest. He was 66. Petty’s death came on the heels of his 40th-anniversary tour with band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers — one he had told Rolling Stone would be the “last big one.”
Miley’s cover follows a string of musician tributes to the late singer, ranging from Fleet Foxes’ “Don’t Come Around Here No More” to Coldplay’s “Free Fallin” to Kesha’s “Into the Great Wide Open.”
