Miley Cyrus skipped the Teen Choice Awards last minute, posts super relatable apology on Insta

Although she was nominated for four awards and set to accept the Ultimate Choice award at last night’s Teen Choice Awards, Miley Cyrus decided not to attend at the last minute. Victoria Justice announced Cyrus’ inability to attend and the crowd was not happy. “It’s a bummer,” Justice agreed.

But Cyrus promptly posted an apology on Instagram explaining her absence.

"I created an unrealistic schedule for myself which leads me to this announcement! I've been tryin to keep the secret but I can't hide it any longer! My new single / music video #YoungerNow will be dropping this Friday , Aug 18th."

Okay — we’ll definitely let this one slide.

In fact, we’ve all been there. Perhaps we’ve never been on the brink of releasing a huge single to our masses of fans — but we’ve certainly overbooked ourselves before. It sucks having to choose between two really fun things and we’re (selfishly) glad the mother of “Malibu” made the decision she did.

If her not appearing at the TCAs means we get a new Miley Cyrus single by the end of the week, then we’re totally cool with it.

Cyrus was set to receive the Ultimate Choice Award, the TCA’s grandest honor. She received this award due to her decade-long involvement in the Teen Choice Awards and previous 18 wins.

She’s one of six artists/performers in Teen Choice history to win this award, and yes, it was admittedly disappointing for us Smilers not to watch her accept.

But sometimes you just can’t do it all. Cyrus ended her caption writing, “I am sending so much love and peace into the world right now because THATS what we need most! Love Love & more LOVE! ❤️????❤️????”

We’re sending love right back at ya, Miley. We’re so stoked to hear her title single off her upcoming album, Younger Now, and we’re sending her massive congratulations!
