Miley Cyrus has a song for everyone who’s feeling sad and alone over the holidays

Miley Cyrus poured one out for everyone who may be having a blue Christmas this year. On Saturday, December 20th, the singer shared her 2015 song “Sad Christmas,” reminding her fanbase that it’s okay to be upset during the “most wonderful time of the year.”

“Was feeling like shit cause I couldn’t be with the one I loved,” Cyrus explained, both on Instagram and Twitter, about why she wrote “Sad Christmas Song.”

"Even with a house full of family and friends I still felt alone," she continued. "In ways that still feels relevant and someone reading this right now could possibly relate!"

If you are up to speed on the Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth relationship timeline, the two were broken up in 2015, and they reunited early in 2016. Maybe that’s part of why Cyrus was having a “Sad Christmas.”

Cyrus explained in her post that she wrote “Sad Christmas Song” while driving from Malibu to Los Angeles and arranged it with her Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz collaborators, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips. The same day she recorded the track, she worked with photographer Vijat M to shoot the cover image.

"If you feel lonely this season just know YOU ARE COMPLETELY MADE OF MAGIC!" Cyrus reminded her Smilers. "You are as special as a snowflake, beautifully unique and I hope inside your soul feels light, hope, peace, and joy knowing how singularly amazing YOU are! Love always wins!"

Although Cyrus was simply trying to lift her fans’ spirits during the holiday season—she has been posting a variety of her former Christmas singles throughout the month—some read into her “Sad Christmas” post in light of breaking news.

The same day Cyrus shared “Sad Christmas,” TMZ snapped pics of her beau Cody Simpson out and about in NYC with Playboy model Jordy Murray. This led some to assume that Cyrus and Simpson called it quits mere days before Christmas, hence Cyrus bringing back “Sad Christmas.”.

But guys, we’re going too deep. Simpson’s sister Alli told The Daily Mail today, December 23rd, that her brother and Cyrus are “together for sure.”

And if you needed an explanation for Simpson and Murray to be hanging out, Alli said, "[Jordy] is [Cody's] best friend, Ryan Mcarthy’s girlfriend of a few years. He’s visiting him for a couple days."

Have no fear, Miley-Cody shippers (Are we calling them Midy or Coley?). It seems as though everything is perfectly alright in paradise. Cyrus simply wanted to tell us it’s okay to be sad, and we thank her for that important reminder. In fact, we’re adding “Sad Christmas” to our holiday playlists ASAP.
