Miley Cyrus opened up about why ditching weed and alcohol was easy for her
Miley Cyrus has been in the spotlight for pretty much her entire life. While we all change as we become adults, her drastic evolution from Hannah Montana to Bangerz queen was up for (occasionally negative) public consumption, thanks to her celeb status. Now, Miley is talking about getting sober, and speaking candidly about her latest reinvention.
Miley’s never been shy about her marijuana usage (she even has a weed tattoo!), so it was somewhat surprising when she opened up about having given it (and alcohol) up in a recent interview. Speaking with Billboard, Miley discussed her new music, her renewed relationship with Liam Hemsworth, and a new trajectory for her career. Part of that trajectory, she said, was quitting weed and alcohol “for a second” in order to be “super clear and sharp” (at the time of the interview, she’d been sober for three weeks).
Then, in a SiriusXM appearance this week to promote her latest single, “Malibu,” Miley talked about how laying off her drug usage was “easy” for her.

"A lot of people have reached out to me and they're like, 'You know, if you want help or if you want to go to these meetings,' and I'm like, 'No, when I want something, I can do it. Anything that I want to do, if I want to stop or start something, I can do anything. I just decided not to [smoke] anymore and now it's easy for me."
Miley also told the SiriusXM hosts that she has “a lot of energy” since getting sober, noting that she’d always had a lot of energy.

Clearly, this is a big change for Miley (see above “It’s 4:20 somewhere” home decor featured on her Insta). While it’s important to remember that quitting weed and alcohol isn’t necessarily this simple and seamless for everyone, her ability to decide what was best for her and break what had become a negative influence on her career evolution is super inspiring.
