Miley Cyrus reveals how the Manchester attacks completely changed how she thinks about her fans’ safety

In the aftermath of the horrible Manchester attack at an Ariana Grande concert that killed 22 people, Miley Cyrus was among the countless celebrities who offered sympathy and condolences to those affected. Now the singer is looking at what happened and what it means for touring, concerts, and with regard to her own safety as a performer and the safety of her audience.

Miley Cyrus was interviewed on The Today Show Friday, where she performed her latest single.

Miley Cyrus spoke candidly for the first time about her fears in the wake of the Manchester attacks.

She expressed her shock and horror over the attack, and admitted she can’t begin to imagine what her friend Ariana Grande is going through.

“It’s just beyond me, and I can’t wait until I get a second to give her a big hug,” she said on The Today Show.

Miley Cyrus said that the attack brought home some serious concerns about her own touring habits, and was a sobering moment in her own professional career. As a performer, she has an obligation to protect not just herself, but the people who attend her concerts. Such concerns had never really struck home for her before — until Manchester.

"Now I realize that I need to know that I'm around a lot of people and to protect myself and protect everyone that's here," Miley revealed.

The singer explained that previously, she’s never really worried about having a security team keep an eye on things. Miley Cyrus always preferred a “low-key” attitude, as she explained in the interview. But following the attacks, she’s focused more than ever on safety and protections; not just for herself, but for the countless fans that attend her concerts.
