This snippet of Miley Cyrus’ new song “Malibu” is giving us throwback country Miley vibes

Whoa, Miley Cyrus’ new tune is giving us ~major~ throwback vibes!

The 24-year-old pop star announced on her Instagram page today that she’ll dropping her latest single, “Malibu,” tomorrow for the world to hear. But in the meantime, she discreetly gave us a sneak listen to the tune already, posting a promo video for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards set to the track of the new song (she’s performing it for the first time live on the ABC show later this month, FYI).

And based on the brief clip, “Malibu” sounds ~a lot~ like old-school Miley!

The singer-slash-actress’ melody seems sugary sweet and happy.

“It’s a brand new start, it’s a dream come true in Malibu,” she teased from the song’s lyrics on Instagram.

And by the looks of it, Miley’s fiance, Liam Hemsworth, took a few of the less-official promo pics for Miley’s song.

Awee!

Okay, so if you haven’t listened to the Billboard Award’s promo video above, then what are you waiting for? Listen, pronto! Based on the melody and Miley’s soft lyrics, it sounds way more like her own unique blend of country-pop music that she used to love back in her teenage years before the Bangerz and Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz era.

Okay, so maybe the whole single isn’t purely a country-music-Miley throwback. But you can definitely hear the undertones there. To hear the entire tune, we’ll have to wait until it drops tomorrow. Plus, you know we’ll be counting down the days until Miley performs it live at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards come Sunday, May 21!
