Miley Cyrus just dropped a new breakup song, and some people are convinced it’s about Liam

While things are going pretty well at the moment, it’s no surprise that people think the new Miley Cyrus song may be about Liam Hemsworth. Because, well, it’s about breaking up. And while we don’t know everything about Cyrus,  we do know that her initial split from the Hunger Games actor was pretty big.

The song itself, called “Week Without You,” is a total breakup anthem. In fact, we think it’s on the list with Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” in songs that are good to yell out in the car after an uncoupling. Or, if a crush just doesn’t work out.

It’ll be in our heads for quite some time, that’s for sure.

The song navigates singlehood a little bit. In it, Cyrus isn’t lamenting for Hemsworth to take her back — if it is, indeed, about him — which is simply refreshing and pretty darn powerful.

Here’s one of the many reasons as to why Hemsworth might have been the inspiration — Cyrus is the only writer attributed to the song. These days, that kind of accomplishment is a rarity. But it means the lyrics came straight from her, and no other outside sources.

Cyrus and Hemsworth have both gone on record to talk about how the breakup was hard, but somewhat beneficial in the long run.

"I needed to change so much. And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard," Cyrus told Billboard this May. "Suddenly you're like, 'I don't recognize you anymore.' We had to refall for each other."

One part of the song talks about how Cyrus can’t wait to ditch her dress for the jeans she’s most comfortable in. As she says, “I’d go and grab my old blue jeans, I’m sick of wearing this silly dress.” Oddly enough, she stated in Cosmopolitan that her original time with Hemsworth is when she felt the most fashion regrets.

No matter what, we think the song is a winner. And if we have Hemsworth to partially thank for that, so be it.
