Bok bok, b*tch: Michelle Yeoh wore the Crazy Rich Asians ring to the 2019 Golden Globes
Crazy Rich Asians star Michelle Yeoh arrived on the red carpet for the 2019 Golden Globes donning a sentimental memento: the emerald green engagement ring from her hit film, which has two Golden Globe nominations tonight. In an interview with Vulture in August 2018, director Jon M. Chu revealed that the stunning piece of jewelry actually hails from Yeoh’s very own collection, so it makes total sense that the Malaysian actress wore it for Hollywood’s biggest party on January 6th. Los Angeles Times film reporter Jen Yamato first pointed out the bling, appropriately tweeting: “MICHELLE YEOH IS WEARING THE #CRAZYRICHASIANS RING.”

In his interview with Vulture, Chu hilariously revealed that the original ring that was going to be used wasn’t up to snuff for the veteran film actress.
“We had a ring designed already, and our mock-up looked so shitty that Michelle was like, ‘That cannot be the ring I wear.’ I’m like, ‘I know, I know. I’m so embarrassed by it, but we don’t have the money.’ She’s like, ‘I have a better ring than that,’ he said. “She pulls it out, and I was like, oh my gosh, that’s our ring.
Yeoh arrived at the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton in a leather green dress complete with lace details at the bottom. She paired the dress, which perfectly accents her emerald-green ring, with a black clutch and silver necklace.
The 2019 Golden Globes with hosts Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg airs tonight on NBC at 5 p.m. PST.
