Michelle Williams gets real about dating at 36 and it’s definitely not what she thought it’d be

Dating is tough for everyone, even celebrities. Yes, it is true, and now Michelle Williams is getting real about dating at 36-years-old and revealing a lot about the less-than glamorous part of trying to find a man.

The Manchester by the Sea star opened up to Porter magazine for their latest issue, admitting that she never thought she’d be dating at this age, especially with a daughter.

"Talk about a learning process. I think, God, what would I say about it?" Williams told Porter about her dating life via E! Online.

"I feel really sensitive about it and certainly did not expect to still be dating at 36 with an 11-year-old. This is not what I imagined," she explained.

Her homebody tendencies might be part of the reason Williams isn’t the biggest fan of the dating scene.

"I'm like a cat, I'm a very domestic creature. I just want to stay home and take care of people. But I'm also happy with myself and just because I might have a desire to be with someone… that won't lead me to marry the wrong person," the former Dawson's Creek star revealed.

While she didn’t see herself having to find another person — she was happy with her solo life with her daughter Matilda who she had with ex Heath Ledger before he passed in 2008 — her best friend, Busy Phillips pointed out that she was in a dating rut.

"My friend Busy and her husband Marc [Silverstein] said, 'Michelle, you're in like a blackout zone, everybody is now partnered up and you have to wait for people to start getting divorced,'" Williams told the publication.

Ouch, Phillips, that’s way harsh. What are friends for if they aren’t going to give you the tough love you really need?

"Oh my f--king God. Are you kidding me? I'm just sitting around and waiting for marriages to crumble? Oh wow! No!" she added.

Williams also opened up about her life after Ledger, raising Matilda (who is 11-years-old now) alone, and her current movie projects.
