Michelle Williams’ BFF Busy Philipps flew to be with her on the anniversary of Heath Ledger’s death because that is love
We always fawn over Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps’s friendship as total #BFFGoals, but Philipps’s recent act of love is a true testament to what kind of friends these women really are. Monday, January 22nd, 2018, marked the 10th anniversary of Heath Ledger’s death, and judging from Philipps’s Instagram, it appears she flew across the country to be with her best friend Williams yesterday.
Williams and Ledger were briefly engaged, had one child together (Matilda, now 12) and spent three years together before breaking up in late 2007. Just a few months later, Ledger passed away.
It’s beautiful to see Philipps recognize the importance of the anniversary and make the effort to be there for her best friend. Philipps knew the couple when they were together, which probably makes her an even more powerful support system during this time of remembrance and grief.
In an emotional Instagram story on Monday, Philipps shared a heartfelt message to her late friend while listening to “Time to Pretend” by MGMT.
“I was just driving and I was thinking about my friend Heath who died 10 years ago and this song came on, ‘Time to Pretend,’” Philipps revealed in the Insta Story (via Entertainment Weekly). “It came out after he passed away and I remember when it came out, because [I thought] it made me think of him. I just thought he would have liked this song. And for some reason, every time I hear this song… it’s weird.”
Philipps then documented her flight (to New York, presumably) to reunite with Williams and later shared this sweet snap.
There is something incredibly powerful about friendship that no amount of romantic or familial love can replicate. These two give us all sorts of feels.
