Michelle Obama addressed the rumors that she might one day run for office
Although this year has seen its fair share of triumphs, we’ve also been seriously missing the former First Family — and especially former First Lady, Michelle Obama. We’ve even wondered if she might one day run for office.
HOWEVER, at the American Institute of Architects annual convention, Michelle Obama shut down political office rumors…and even though many might find that disappointing, her reasoning for not wanting to venture back into politics makes total sense.
"It’s all well and good until you start running, and then the knives come out," Obama said, according to the Orlando Sentinal. "Politics is tough, and it’s hard on a family…I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again because, when you run for higher office, it’s not just you, it’s your whole family."
She added that there’s plenty she can do without the “burden of political baggage,” and we’re super excited to see what exactly that will mean. She remains deeply committed to fighting for women’s education, and her Let Girls Learn initiative is still going full steam ahead.
At the end of the day, Mrs. Obama lived in the White House for eight years, and she deserves some time out of the spotlight.

Whether you are in political office or not, Michelle, you inspire us every day!
