Michael J. Fox jammed with Dave Matthews Band this weekend, and we *totally* wish we were there

Well, it looks like two legendary talents combined on Saturday night. Performing at A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s: An Evening of Comedy & Music to Benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Michael J. Fox himself jammed with Dave Matthews on guitar. The only thing better would have been if Chris Pratt were there, too. (Of course, dressed up as Andy Dwyer. We know that’d have been a life-changing opportunity for the Mouse Rat singer.)

Each year, Fox’s annual event nets about $5 million for Parkinson’s research. The night pushes both comedy and music, and in general, everyone has a pretty incredible time. Fox always manages to get big names to perform, which only adds to the “we really wish we could have been there” factor.

This year, the event took place this Saturday at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

Thankfully, a few lucky fans managed to take video of the monumental musical moments that took place. In this clip, Dave Matthews is playing “All Along The Watchtower,” with Fox strumming along.

The song is actually a Bob Dylan cover that Dave Matthews Band has been playing since the early ’90s. In fact, it’s become such a big part of their set, that fans typically just refer to it as “Watchtower.”

Of course, Dave Matthews also made sure to play a few of his own big hits as well.

We love the fact that Michael J. Fox continues to be such an advocate for Parkinson’s, and thanks to him and his own diagnosis, so many people are now aware of the progressive disease. Fox is proof that life can definitely go on, and that symptoms will never mask talent, warmth, and strength.
