Michael Fassbender reveals how he fell in love with Alicia Vikander and we. are. swooning
Some beautiful things just belong together: convertibles and sunny days, lipstick and winged eyeliner, Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander. Where were you when you learnt of the most perfect coupling in celeb history? The two star as husband and wife in this fall’s moody drama The Light Between Oceans and, according to the actors, the forming of their relationship took zero hard work and came to be very naturally (so it’s not exactly difficult to fall for Michael Fassbender though…).
Fassbender and Vikander have managed to keep things pretty quiet over the last two years, making the silent but effective announcement of their union by attending the Golden Globes together just this year. Even now, they remain coy about the details. When asked on Good Morning Britain how falling for a costar felt to him, Fassbender replied simply: “It just happened.”
“I’m glad it happened,” he quickly clarified, “and it is what it is.”

When pressed on whether it’s difficult to manage reporters looking for answers on Alicia and Michael’s relationship, the Macbeth and Steve Jobs star gave the most succinct and explanatory answer ever. “It’s not really difficult,” says Fassbender, already cruising past the question. “I just answer what I choose to answer and don’t answer other things.” Is that even an option in the insanely overexposed world of celebrity living? With privacy becoming more and more a luxury each day, we can totally get behind two A-listers who want to stay far from the spotlight when they don’t need to be under it for work.
