Meryl Streep once again broke her own Oscar record with her 20th nomination like it was NBD
The Queen of the Silver Screen is back at it again. Meryl Streep is once again nominated for an Oscar. And this is the 20th time the actress is up for the golden statue. Of course, there’s never been any doubt that Meryl is an absolutely tremendous actress. In fact, she’s long held the record for the most Oscar nominations. Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson are tied behind her with 12 nominations each.
Meryl has actually won the Oscar three times.
And this year she may just snag it again thanks to her amazing performance in Florence Foster Jenkins.
She’s literally on her own level with it comes to awards and nominations. And she just keeps outdoing herself with every magical performance.
The icon responded to the happy news of her 20th nomination in the most perfect way.
She had her publicist sent out a gif of her celebrating. No joke.
This is Meryl Streep's #Oscars nomination statement. Seriously, she sent a gif. pic.twitter.com/wa18Jix6Vf

The gif is from a music video for “Queenie Eye” by Paul McCartney that she (and a bunch of other lucky dancing people) participated in. And the fact that it shows a happy Meryl in a perfect moment of delighted dancing makes us love her even more.
La La Land leads in overall nominations for this year’s big awards season event. But at this point, it’s feels like the ceremony can’t even begin unless Meryl is there.
And, since she shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, we can keep expecting this already impressive nomination number to continue getting bigger over the years.
