What is Meryl Streep’s net worth? The living legend has worked hard for her fortune

It goes without saying that actress and living legend Meryl Streep has an incredibly impressive career. From stage to screen to endless awards, it would probably takes hours to list all of her accomplishments in once place. Seriously. She’s been nominated for a record-breaking 21 Academy Awards and won three, and she’s been nominated for 31 Golden Globes and won eight.

So as a working actress for more than 40 years, what is Meryl Streep’s net worth?

Streep’s self-made fortune is massive. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Streep’s net worth is approximately $90 million. For her starring role in the (relatively small) 2015 film Ricki and the Flash, she earned $5 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And as reported by Forbes.com, Streep is one of the highest paid film actresses, grossing as much as $10 million a film.

Streep has opened up in the past about learning how to demand her worth.

In a 2016 interview celebrating the 10-year anniversary of The Devil Wears Prada, Streep told Variety that she almost walked away from the role of Miranda Priestly due to a disrespectfully low offer. “The offer was to my mind slightly, if not insultingly, not perhaps reflective of my actual value to the project,” Streep said. “There was my ‘goodbye moment,’ and then they doubled the offer. I was 55, and I had just learned, at a very late date, how to deal on my own behalf.”

Streep has also spoken out about the the gender pay gap in Hollywood.“Men are ashamed that they’re getting that money,” Streep told Time in 2016.  “It used to be, everybody didn’t say anything about it, so it was kind of fine. Now they’re a little more nervous that somebody will find out what they make vis-a-vis their co-star. That’s the best vigilance: the vigilance of privilege. […] When the other side says, ‘You know, I think that sucks’ — that’s great.”

Streep’s latest role in The Post has earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The show is Sunday, March 4th, and we’re sending her all the luck (not that she needs it).
