Meryl Streep just received her 30th Golden Globe nomination because she is truly the kween of Hollywood
Meryl Streep just made history – again. The 67-year-old actress just received her 30th Golden Globe nomination. The actress was included in the list for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, for her role in Florence Foster Jenkins.
First, let us glitch out for a second: Meryl Streep is 67 years old?!?!! When did that happen? And, how? She still looks like she’s in her ’40s. Ageless, actually. That’s how she looks. She lives beyond time and age.
At Monday’s nominations ceremony, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association also announced that Hugh Grant, who stars as Streep’s husband and manager, received a nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. In addition, the HFPA nominated Simon Helberg for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role as pianist Cosmé McMoon.
Florence Foster Jenkins is up for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
Streep was understandably speechless, responding to the nom with a one-syllable statement, made to E! News: “AAAAGGGGHHHH!”
Streep received her first Golden Globe nomination in 1978 for The Deer Hunter. She won her first Golden Globe in 1979 for Best Supporting Actress, in Kramer vs. Kramer.
She became the most-nominated performer in Golden Globes history in 2009, for double lead actress nominations for Doubt and Mamma Mia!. Since then, she’s received seven more nominations.
She’s also the most-awarded Golden Globes actor/actress (again with that nonsense gender segregation), having won eight times.
At the 74th Golden Globes in 2017, she will receive the Cecil B. Demille Award for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.”
We’re starting to wonder if there even could be a Golden Globes without Meryl Streep.
