Melissa McCarthy talks about what it’s like being back on the “Gilmore Girls” reboot

While we’ve been on pins and needles waiting for the official release date of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Melissa McCarthy has spilled some tea about life on the new Stars Hollow set. “Oh, it was a bloodbath,” McCarthy told E! News. Before everyone freaks out, she was only kidding. “No, it was so fun. I get so sentimental to be back on those sets and to see everybody. It was amazing how we just all fell back into it,” she added.

Even though there was confusion about her return at first, McCarthy was happy to go back to her Sookie St. James roots. “I just visited the set and everything about it felt like home. Seeing Stars Hollow, I realized I had missed it way more than I had thought,” she told Time back in April.

Other favorite Gilmore characters who will be joining mother-daughter duo Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Scott Patterson (Luke), Keiko Agena (bff Lane Kim), and Yanic Truesdale (Michel), plus the return of Rory’s exes — Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, and Matt Czuchry (Dean, Jess, and Logan). A total of 37 characters are returning for the four-episode revival, which will be airing on Netflix.
